Plastic Surgery - Breast Reconstruction
Breast Reconstruction
Aesthetic reconstruction of a breast removed due to cancer using the patient's own body tissue (flap) or implants.
About the Operation
Breast reconstruction (new breast creation) aims to rebuild the missing breast as closely as possible to its original form in women who have lost one or both breasts due to cancer, trauma, or genetic disease (having undergone mastectomy). Using advanced oncoplastic surgical techniques, reconstruction is performed either in the same session as the mastectomy or after all treatments are completed, restoring the woman's psychological and physical wholeness.
Application Details
- 1In implant-based reconstruction, silicone or a tissue expander can be placed beneath the skin.
- 2In autologous (own-tissue) reconstruction, muscle or fat from the back or abdomen (TRAM flap, DIEP flap) is microsurgically transferred to the breast area.
- 3In a second session, the nipple-areola complex can be reconstructed with tattooing or small tissue grafts.
Who Is It Suitable For?
- Women who have had one or both breasts removed as part of breast cancer treatment
- Patients who wish to regain a natural breast form using either implants or their own tissue
- Cancer survivors who require reduction or lifting of the healthy breast to achieve symmetry with the reconstructed breast
