Plastic Surgery - Breast Implant Replacement
Breast Implant Change / Revision
Surgical removal and replacement of old, damaged, asymmetric, or size-adjustment-required silicone implants with new ones.
About the Operation
This is a revision operation performed on patients who wish to have old-generation or ruptured implants used in previous breast implant surgery removed for medical reasons (capsular contracture), or who wish to change size or shape. Typically, larger or smaller modern implants are placed, and if necessary, sagging skin is simultaneously tightened and lifted (revision augmentation-mastopexy).
Application Details
- 1The hardened, pain-causing aged capsule pocket is surgically dissected and the implant is removed (capsulectomy).
- 2The internal tissue is thoroughly cleared and new implant(s) are seated in an anatomical pocket parallel to the original incision.
- 3When needed, mastopexy (lift) is added in the same session to address sagging skin.
Who Is It Suitable For?
- Those wishing to replace old-type (saline or defective) silicone implants placed 10–15 years ago
- Those experiencing pain and deformity due to capsular contracture
- Patients who find their current size too large and wish to downsize, or who wish to upsize (C / D cup) due to sagging
